As an explorer, you have always loved Egypt. It's where your great grandfather, Howard Carter, discovered the remains of the ancient pharaoh Tutankhamen.
On a walk beside the River Nile, you and some friends suddenly feel the ground shift beneath you, sending you all tumbling down a stony shaft into a lost tomb.
Will you find a way out, or will this become your tomb too?
You're the Host
As the host of this event you, or another adult, will prepare everything so the kids can escape.
Your role is like the Game Masters you're used to from other Escape Rooms. Once the game starts you'll do a quick intro, keep things running smoothly, and check answers for each challenge. Don't worry there's a simple 1-page cheat sheet.

Customize The Escape Game

If you plan to play the base game without customization, scroll down to Printing the Game.
However, if you enjoy creating custom puzzles, you can easily edit the game using the Builder's Kit included in the download. This is easier than it sounds since the entire game is built using PowerPoint. In other words, if you're comfortable with editing a Word document you have all the skills you need to become an Escape Room Designer!

How to edit the game:
- Open the Designers Kit PowerPoint.
- Customize whatever you want using the included artwork or your own. Some great customization ideas include:
- Referring to the birthday child by name.
- Add the school, or holiday camp, name.
- Create puzzles around 'in' jokes or learning outcomes.
- Mix and match elements or combine with real-world props, such as padlocks. For example, 2 of the 3 challenges result in a 4 digit code so you can quickly add a combination lock.
Printing The Escape Kit
Open the PDF file Game - The Lost Mummy.pdf and print the escape kit on standard paper. It's sized for US paper sizes but will still print on international paper (A4).
There's no need to use high gloss paper, or professional printing since the gritty style looks almost identical either way. Using thicker paper does add a nice touch, but again it's by no means necessary.
The game is designed for a team of 4-6 players. So, if you have a larger group, just print the kit out several times, and run the game as a competitive team event. For example:
- 2-6 players = print once.
- 7-12 players = print twice.
- 13-18 players = print 3 times.
Optional Posters and Birthday Party Invites:
The Lost Mummy also includes optional posters, and party invites, to make the experience even more immersive. None of these are required to play the game, but if you want to go the extra mile, it's totally worth it!
To print the posters just open the pdf under Posters folder. You'll most likely only want a few of them, so when you click print type in the slide numbers separated by commas.
If you'd like to print the birthday party invites you can find these under the Invitations folder. Open the PowerPoint file and edit whichever invite you like the most.
These are perfectly sized to be printed as normal 4x6 photos (the small photos people always print). To export the final invitation choose Exporter. -> Export -> Choose the JPEG file format and Save every slide. This will export all of them as photos, so delete whichever ones you don't want.
From here you can print them as photos by putting them on a USB drive. Alternatively, just share them via Facebook or Instagram.
Setup the Puzzle Sheets
The Lost Mummy requires players to solve 3 major challenges. Start by separating the game into 3 challenge piles, as well as the victory sheets.
Placing each pile of cards in a different room makes for a more immersive experience. However, if you're short on space, just give the kids the first challenge, and when they solve it pass them the puzzle sheets for Challenge 2.
Once of the first sheets in the pack is the Answers and Walkthrough guide, which will be your cheat sheet for guiding the kids through the escape kit.
Detailed walkthrough: Solving the Rosetta Stone

In the Lost Mummy kit, you will find an alphabet written in an Egyptian-type font which needs to be placed correctly on the Rosetta Stone sheet.
To do this, cut the symbols and arrange it based on the hints found in the 4 dairies.
For example, b c d e f g are on one slab of rock with corresponding symbols of a foot, cup, hand, arm, slithering animal, and headpiece. This can be worked out by reading 'Foot = B' in diary 4.
Just continue to fill each of these in. Any leftovers will only have 1 place they fit.

Now you're ready to begin the game!
Follow this basic script when kids arrive:
- Since this is a new experience for most children, explain how escape rooms work. A good hook is asking if anyone's played a digital escape room app.
- Show them the intro story video below.
- Each team should appoint a leader and choose a team name.
- Each team will face 3 challenges.
- When a team solves a challenge, the team leader brings the answer to you. If the answer is correct, you will give them the next challenge.
- (Optional) Teams can s'affronteront with the winning team finishing first, or play this 60-minute timer video on your phone.
- (Optional) If they can't complete the game in time they'll need to drink 'mummy juice' from a canopic jar to survive as long as possible. Then give them a hint to get through. You can make 'mummy juice' by blending M&M's, milk & ketchup into a smoothie. It looks gross but tastes ok and kids love this stuff.
- They will need pens, scissors, glue/tape, and spare paper.
- Point out the intro story in Challenge 1, and let them know they can begin!
During the game, refer to the 'Answers and Walkthrough' sheet, that's part of the printout.

Some of the solutions have been designed as 4 digit codes, so you can easily add combination padlocks to the game. To do this:
- Place the next challenge's puzzles sheets in a box or container.
- Seal it with a padlock and set it to one of the combinations below.

Get Additional Props
How to run the escape game in a classroom or large group:
The best way to run The Lost Mummy for a classroom, or large party, is a simultaneous race to finish first.
Just print out a copy of the game for every 4-6 players then follow these steps:
- Split the larger group into several teams of 4-6 kids that will race to finish first.
- Each group can play simultaneously.
- Hand out just the first challenge to each team, and get them to come to you with their answers. When they get it correct pass them the next challenge. This helps keep things in order and prevents confusion.

Translating each of life events in order we get PHAROAH.

The shattered stone animals have to be cut out and put back together.
But there is only one true form, what could it be?
One head, One body and One legs combine to form the true Goddess of the Feather. I know her name - Ammut!
Looks like the circles and lines on the animals have to match up to find the answer. There are different sized circles along the edges of each piece.
Translate the two hieroglyphs on each animal section and then line them up to read the answer. Only one combination of three animal sections produces a word.

Here is a real wall painting of Ammut. She watches carefully at the Weighing of the Heart. She will eat the heart of the pharaoh if she hasn't followed the 42 principles of Ma-at.

It must match another puzzle page, the icon in the top right gives us a clue.

The diary clue tells us to align the entrance of the tomb with north.
The green circle disk has a North indicator on it, so we can place the pyramid on the square with the correct alignment.

Looks like there are four stone pillars to cut out and glue/sticky-tape together.
There is a four letter translation on each pillar, making a sentence.
The green colour must match another puzzle page.
Perhaps the pillars need to be aligned somehow? Maybe the Diary has some useful clues.

The High Wizards Were Looking For A Champion
Dani was upset. You see, it was nearly Easter, but there was no way that Anna and Szilard's little brother could go see Grandma. At least, not without accidentally spreading the plague (which is nowhere near as much fun as escaping the zombie virus!)
It was at this time that the High Wizards began their contest of champions - to see who could design the greatest escape room game.
So Anna and Szilard stepped up!
They lovingly designed 'Dragon Eggs' as a captivating scavenger hunt guaranteed to lift poor Dani's spirits.
And their clever workmanship shows! Their intuitive but challenging puzzles had our escape goblins skittering around the Citadel for weeks searching for lost dragon eggs.
So naturally, we wanted to learn more about the enigmatic masterminds behind our favorite Easter game.
Let's get to know Anna and Szilard:
What is your favorite dragon?
In real life we both love bearded dragons. Out of the fantasy dragons probably our favourite is Hiccup's Toothless (in How to Train Your Dragon).
But we've also seen among the contest submissions that there is another game that has a dragon (or at least a hint to it), Caesar, and that was a really good game, so it goes to our favourite dragon list! (We checked out all the fan-made games that appeared on your website and most of them were really really good!)
If you could use one magic spell, what would it be?
We couldn't agree on this one ? .
I (Anna) say that the Accio spell from Harry Potter would be very useful for me in daily life, as I tend to not find where I put my things.
Szilard says that if we can only choose one spell that it should be something more powerful, like a healing spell to cure all illnesses.
This is Anna. Hi Anna! (I know what you're thinking - and no, Szilard is not the one in Anna's hand, he's the one taking the photo!)
Q1. Can you walk us through your design process?
We first decided that as the game would be for Easter, essentially it should be an egg-hunt. But we still wanted to give it a cool theme, so we came up with a little story about stolen dragon eggs.
We were long debating the structure of the treasure hunt, the first idea was to make it sequential so that one solution will lead to the next clue and all solutions together would allow the players to deduce something in Sherlock style. But then we opted for something simpler, where there was less room for error in the design, this is how we have now independent puzzles that each give one letter towards the final solution.
We also had in mind that it should be easy enough for our little brother to succeed.

Coming up with the actual puzzle ideas was a lot of iteration, we knew we wanted it to be as varied as possible, but that's tricky to do in practice.
We wanted to include things to physically manipulate (like cut, fold, colour), but also others where it was more about noticing something or searching.
We drew the ideas on paper, then we searched online for images, and used our limited computer skills to achieve a look as close as possible to that we liked.

Then we printed out the game and solved it ourselves to find out where it didn't work (and we did find quite a few mistakes!).
We even dropped a couple of puzzles that did not seem good enough on second thought.
So we corrected and re-designed and then printed again.
It took about half a dozen rounds of testing before we both were satisfied with the result.
Q2. What was your favorite part of designing your game?
...and perhaps the anticipations when the game was ready and we waited for the big day to come - so if you get feedback from other people who play it, we'd really love to hear!
Other than that we enjoyed the whole process of making the game. Before the lockdown, we did not spend this much time together and now we had secret meetings coming up with the theme, drafting the story, then brainstorming puzzles. We sat together in front of the computer and it was a great bonding to do something good together. (Of course mom and dad knew, so they allowed us more computer-time ? )
Q3. How did you set up the game in your house?
We live in a relatively small flat, so we decided to hide well the twelve cards with the puzzles (e.g. in a book, under the carpet, etc), but we had a few little chocolate eggs nearby so they were not that hard to find.
Mom and dad were helping Dani, but we did not tell them the solutions in advance, sometimes they were just as puzzled as our little brother!
Also, we had one modification compared to the game we submitted for the contest: the video they got in the end was one that we recorded wishing them a happy Easter. (It's super-easy to upload a recording to vimeo and make it password protected, so anyone playing our game can make it personalized this way.)
Q4. How hard was it designing your own game?
It was a lot of work, but it was all fun. After a while we started seeing codes wherever we looked, and we spent entire days thinking about new puzzle ideas.

Q5. Did your little brother like it?
He didn't say much, but at his age that's normal.
It was surprising to see that some of the puzzles we intended to be hard he solved very quickly, while he struggled with others that we felt were not so hard.
We suspect that he expects us to do another treasure hunt for his birthday in July ?
Q6. So... do you know what you're going to do with your prize money?
So once this is over, we are going to book that trip and pay it with our own money!
Q7. Do you have any tips for other kids who might want to make their own escape room game?
We got the idea because of the contest, but we are already working on another game, it's so much fun!

COVID-19 is finally here and there's no escaping it.
The first few days of our social isolation were refreshing but eventually, the boredom made its way to us. So what did we do? The High Wizards decided to throw a mini house party!
This article is a quick summary of how you can use the Envy escape room kit to add a little oomph to your mini get-togethers and fend off those social isolation blues.
Here's how we did it:
We set the mood with super smooth vibes
Breaking the ice is an essential part of any get-together. It's hard to have a good time if the evening is being weighed down by awkward half-smiles and sliding glances, so melting the ice was super important!
This is where the prop-pack (included with the escape room kit) comes into play.
The props followed the 1920's theme and allowed guests to get into character by chatting while trying on glasses, moustaches and bowties. This went on for about an hour while 1920's music played in the background, slowly making us feel like we were at a party hosted by the great Jay Gatsby himself!

Time To Get Our DIY Escape Room Party Going
Eventually, it was time to get to the main event: our escape room game. Like any escape room party, the first step is to split the players into teams, so we divided ourselves into three teams of five.
Setting up the game is super easy. Our night full of jazz and rebellion was kickstarted in three simple steps:
- We gave each team a printed copy of the game, markers, scissors, and some tape.
- I read out the introduction like a Broadway voiceover.
- Everyone jumped right in to solve the enigmatic murder mystery!

Some Exciting Rivalries Were Formed
The fun-factor of these types of parties hinges on strong competition, so some healthy dramatic rivalry was definitely in order... and it started as soon as I yelled 'go'.
Two of the three groups scrambled from the living room to their own private meeting spots.
One group found a quiet corner behind a desk. From there, they proceeded to plot and scheme in hushed tones.
Another group took to the deepest, darkest hidey-hole they could possibly find. They opted to work stealthily by torchlight.
This competition made the 1920's nightlife practically buzz! The whole event was very competitive with each team finishing within five minutes of each other. Talk about close!
It Was A Party To Remember
Overall, it was a very memorable evening. The game itself engaged our minds in new and exciting ways. Once the game got started, the pandemic outside ceased to exist for an entire evening. We were having an absolute
blast roaring in the 1920's alongside the Great Gatsby and Al-Capone!
Better yet, people really connected over the game. The competitive atmosphere drew teams together, and it made for a perfect bonding experience among friends.

Unfortunately, we don't have any photos from after the game. We were all having such a good time! Everyone was in full party mode. There was some dancing, lots of chilling out, and great conversations.

Step 2 - Gather Your Crew
You'll need a mate to watch your back when you face off against the zombie horde. However, you'll never live it down if you end up spreading the virus to your entire contact list! Escape room games are nowhere near as much fun alone, so what do you do?
If you're already self-isolating, keep your distance and don't invite anyone else to your home. Print off the game, and play it with your fellow survivors in quarantine (but watch out for signs of any of them turning?)
Our resident elf clerics recommend keeping your group small, as directed by your local public health authority. The epic escape party sweet-spot is between 4 and 10 players.
Step 3 - Set Up Your Game

Step 4 - Have a Blast... But Don't Get Infected!
Of course, zombies happen, however, your party doesn't need to be the source of the next outbreak. Here's what you can do to protect yourself and your players from catching any nasty bugs:
- Give everyone their own pen. Each player will only use his/her own pen for the game. Escape room stress tends to bring out the worst pencil-chewers and nail-biters in the group... so maybe let them keep the pen...
- Divvy up the challenges. No one really wants to be snuggling together right now, so consider seating your players a little further apart. Each player can choose a couple of challenges they want to tackle, then they can retreat to their seat at minimum-safe-distance. Of course, make sure you are close enough to talk and problem-solve, but no one needs to be rubbing foreheads over the same puzzle sheet.
- Play games! Get active to avoid coming down with cabin fever. Both d'Escape Room Z et des Révolte Rebelle contain physical challenges in the form of super-fun party games. You can modify all of our escape room games with extra tasks that get your players up and moving. Do they need to bring a tray of precariously balanced drinks to the party guests? - Wash your hands. Are you sick of hearing this yet? (Pun intended) Well, we'll say it again anyway - you should be washing your hands, even when you're solving a treacherous murder! You could keep hand sanitiser nearby, or just play near the kitchen sink.

People love to play, to laugh, and to eat (goblins love these things too). So why not combine all three as you wait out the apocalypse?
Adding snacks is always a win, however, in this case our elf clerics recommend taking a few extra precautions, such as:
- Avoid serving finger food in a large communal bowl.
- Use utensils instead of hands.
- Label cheap or disposable cups for each player, so that your guests don't accidentally share a glass.
- Wash hands well!
- Try serving snacks in individually-portioned snack cups.

How to score an instant date night WIN with 'Envy' and some cool company
Refined chuckles rippled through the balmy evening air; an odd sound, considering a man had just been killed at this party. Yes, love was indeed in the air tonight, but so was murder, and that's not something you want to face alone.
Come now, pick your jaw off the floor! Three isn't a crowd, it's a party!

But first, let's meet the cast:

So, why exactly did inviting a third party member make our evening so spectacular?
Extra hands make light work
Setting up the 'Envy' escape room game was ridiculously short and simple:
- Print
- Sort the papers
- Drop them on the desk
- Set up the laptop as a music/hints station.
Done. It took me three minutes! (plus print time)
However, cutting out all those props would n'est pas have been a short and simple task for my clumsy fingers.
Fortunately, my brother had my back, and he helped me get everything cut out and ready in time.
Conseil :
- Make sure you follow the printing directions and print the game on 200 GSM paper, or you'll end up with sad, flimsy sheets like I did.
- For extra classiness you can stick skewers to your glasses and make them easier to hold.

More laughs = more fun!
Cpl. Swatchton's amiable demeanour easily doubled the number of laughs at the table. His quiet antics and understated humour fit in like a piece of fine decor.
While this certainly created a different atmosphere to that of a candlelit dinner, it was no less romantic. As Lady Priscilla and I locked eyes after another of my brother's sly remarks, we knew, we were happy.
Remember, your aim is to host a night that your date will remember. There is something truly special about simply having amusantes with a group of friends.

We burst our bubble
I'll be the first to admit that, as a couple, I tend to live in my own little world where the sun only ever shines on the face of my wife.
Every now and then you need to burst that bubble, so why not do it with your brother, a tragic murder, and an unclaimed inheritance?
Plus, building strong relationships with others actually makes you a far more interesting and attractive person!
Conseil :
Eat snacks! Everyone is a little more comfortable when there's a hearty supply of finger-snacks and tasty drink on hand. This is a perfect recipe for more relaxed interactions and a great evening!
Flirting was waaay more fun!
What's more fun than flirting? Stealth-flirting!
Having my brother around meant that we needed to tone it down... or get creative...
My wife and I made it into a game to see how badly we could flirt without being caught. Bonus points if you can distract your date from their puzzle!
My advice - while shenanigans under the table are fun? just make sure you know who you're playing footsies with!

Flirt up a storm, and make sure your date knows s/he's not forgotten.

I watched and learned
Escape rooms are a great date-night tool to begin with, as you get to see how your date performs under this weird fun/pressure combo. But add another person to the mix, and you start to see your date's character leak out into their interactions.
My wife's fun-loving side was in full swing as she happily crushed the game. However, when the clock counted down and she hit her hardest puzzle, Lady Priscilla didn't snap with the frustration. Instead, she elegantly frowned at her paper, kept calm, and carried on!
They say that pressure exposes the cracks in people's character, but this night, the cracks in my wife looked more like veins of gold!
Conseil :
Make sure you leave enough time before and after the game for people to hang out. Remember, the goal is to have a good time together, not get an escape room done ASAP!
He really came in clutch!
"There's only ten minutes left guys! We need to win this!"
You could feel the tension in the way we collectively frowned over the last puzzle sheet. It was do or die time, and it looked like we were going to die.
Until that is, Cpl. Swatchton flashed a full smile and attacked the answer sheet with fresh gusto.
There's few feelings quite as exhilarating as squeaking in a win so close to defeat. And we couldn't have beaten this game without my brother's help.
There is truly strength in numbers.
Conseil :
Always keep communicating. When you solve a puzzle, tell everyone the answer. Read your completed paragraph out loud so that your friends know how the story is progressing. Keep your allies in the loop so they can make informed decisions.

Three is a party!
At the end of the day, the goal is to share a fun experience with your date, and adding another close friend to the mix achieves that with flying colours!
Private, romantic dates are always fun. But you'll get plenty of those. Having a blast with the people you love gives you a treasured memory to reminisce about later.
Without my brother, there would have been less laughs, a more subdued atmosphere, and a murder that would have remained unsolved.

The cocktail chemical analysis shows a number of chemical formulas. Matching these to the objects in the scene we find that the cocktail is the Southside Fizz, which gives us NO3.
