Who doesn't like solving puzzles? We've grown up watching our favorite characters in movies use their wits and detective skills to get out of sticky situations. If you were like us, we're sure you wished you could join in the fun!

Well, now you can. Escape room puzzles are taking over, and they're as thrilling and puzzling as ever. From physical puzzles to riddles and codes, the possibilities are endless. So if you're new to escape rooms or just want a refresher, here are 11 of the most common types of puzzles you may encounter.

1. Combination Locks

Combination locks are the most affordable way to feel like you're in a heist movie. Whether you're punching 4 digits into a keypad, or spinning a series of little dials into the right order, it's always a satisfying win! Maybe this is why combination locks are among the most common locks found in an escape room.

These may involve a code such as a word, phrase, numerical combination, or even symbols. Combination locks can be physical locks or may be computerized.

You'll have to use clues and logical reasoning to figure out what the combination is. It might require some trial and error, but it's a great way to get your brain working!

2. Word Puzzles

Prof. Dumbledore was a master of word puzzles. If you're like him, then these are for you! Word puzzles involve finding the right words or phrases that complete a clue. It could be a jumble of letters that needs to be unscrambled, a code that needs to be cracked, or an anagram that needs to be solved.

Word puzzles require patience and logic. Sometimes the words or phrases are hidden in plain sight, so look for clues around your escape room to help you out!

3. Physical Puzzles

Nothing like getting your body involved in the escape room experience! Physical puzzles are exactly that - puzzles that require physical action to solve. Think of it like a giant jigsaw puzzle or a 3D maze.

These puzzles are great for players of all ages. They're also a great way to get the whole team working together and can be just as challenging (if not more) than other types of puzzles.

4. Math Puzzles

Are you a math whiz? If so, escape room math puzzles may be right up your alley. This type of puzzle involves equations or mathematical problems that require you to do some calculations.
