Exploring Ancient Egypt!
It's where your grandfather, Howard Carter, discovered the remains of the ancient pharaoh Tutankhamun.
But he had a secret.
Something he never told anyone - but you!
You've spent years preparing - and now it's your chance to find it!
While the boat ride to Egypt took forever, you are finally setting foot on the dusty sand. Ready to unearth this mystery.
Exciting news! We've re-released The Lost Mummy as version 2 with all new artwork, more interesting puzzles, and more engaging gameplay.
If you've already download Version 1 of the game just head over to your Games & Account page to download the new version. We've also emailed a link to anyone who had previously purchased version 1 so you could search your inbox for the email titled "Here's your free escape room kit"
If you would still like to play Version 1 of the game just keep scrolling down for everything you'll need!
As the host of this event you, or another adult, will prepare everything so the kids can escape.
Your role is like the Game Masters you're used to from other Escape Rooms. Once the game starts you'll do a quick intro, keep things running smoothly, and check answers for each challenge. Don't worry there's a simple 1-page cheat sheet.
The rest of this setup guide will take you through:
If you plan to play the base game without customization, scroll down to Printing the Game.
However, if you enjoy creating custom puzzles, you can easily edit the game using the Builder's Kit included in the download. This is easier than it sounds since the entire game is built using PowerPoint. In other words, if you're comfortable with editing a Word document you have all the skills you need to become an Escape Room Designer!
Just click on the Designers Guide folder, inside the game download, then open the Designers Guide.pptx file. For a full guide check out the Mod's page.
How to edit the game:
Open the PDF file Game - The Lost Mummy.pdf and print the escape kit on standard paper. It's sized for US paper sizes but will still print on international paper (A4).
There's no need to use high gloss paper, or professional printing since the gritty style looks almost identical either way. Using thicker paper does add a nice touch, but again it's by no means necessary.
The game is designed for a team of 4-6 players. So, if you have a larger group, just print the kit out several times, and run the game as a competitive team event. For example:
The Lost Mummy also includes optional posters, and party invites, to make the experience even more immersive. None of these are required to play the game, but if you want to go the extra mile, it's totally worth it!
To print the posters just open the pdf under Posters folder. You'll most likely only want a few of them, so when you click print type in the slide numbers separated by commas.
If you'd like to print the birthday party invites you can find these under the Invitations folder. Open the PowerPoint file and edit whichever invite you like the most.
These are perfectly sized to be printed as normal 4x6 photos (the small photos people always print). To export the final invitation choose File -> Export -> Choose the JPEG file format and Save every slide. This will export all of them as photos, so delete whichever ones you don't want.
From here you can print them as photos by putting them on a USB drive. Alternatively, just share them via Facebook or Instagram.
The Lost Mummy requires players to solve 3 major challenges. Start by separating the game into 3 challenge piles, as well as the victory sheets.
Placing each pile of cards in a different room makes for a more immersive experience. However, if you're short on space, just give the kids the first challenge, and when they solve it pass them the puzzle sheets for Challenge 2.
Once of the first sheets in the pack is the Answers and Walkthrough guide, which will be your cheat sheet for guiding the kids through the escape kit.
In the Lost Mummy kit, you will find an alphabet written in an Egyptian-type font which needs to be placed correctly on the Rosetta Stone sheet.
To do this, cut the symbols and arrange it based on the hints found in the 4 dairies.
For example, b c d e f g are on one slab of rock with corresponding symbols of a foot, cup, hand, arm, slithering animal, and headpiece. This can be worked out by reading 'Foot = B' in diary 4.
Just continue to fill each of these in. Any leftovers will only have 1 place they fit.
Enjoy cracking the code!
Detailed walkthrough: Final Pyramid puzzle ExpandFollow this basic script when kids arrive:
Some of the solutions have been designed as 4 digit codes, so you can easily add combination padlocks to the game. To do this:
Long Lost Chamber: 3245
Which way Out: 1232
Print as many, or as few of these as you like:
The best way to run The Lost Mummy for a classroom, or large party, is a simultaneous race to finish first.
Just print out a copy of the game for every 4-6 players then follow these steps:

To repair the Diaries, simply fold along both lines to make the book.
If you'd like to go all out you also trim around the edges plus glue the white sides together.
Solution ExpandThe diaries contain hints and facts you'll need to complete other puzzles in the game. Just tap on the photo of the puzzle you'd like a hint for.
The stones can be aligned in a special way to complete the snake.
Look up Howard Carter's diaries for a hint on where to place each stone.
Solution ExpandFollow the snake's path to find the 4 digit combination of 3245. This can be read by looking at the Ancient Egyptian numbers along the snake's body when the stones are aligned.
The purple color of the stone blocks must match another puzzle page.
Time to get the scissors working to cut out each of the stone blocks!
Solution ExpandUsing the translation stone below, we get:
"Birth to Twins"
One head, One body and One legs combine to form the true Goddess of the Feather. I know her name - Ammut!
Looks like the circles and lines on the animals have to match up to find the answer. There are different sized circles along the edges of each piece.
Translate the two hieroglyphs on each animal section and then line them up to read the answer. Only one combination of three animal sections produces a word.
Hint 2 Expand
The head is a cold-blooded.
The body pounces.
The legs are strength.
Solution Expand Crocodile Head - WOThe Goddess Ammut has found the Lost Mummy to be WORTHY!
Here is a real wall painting of Ammut. She watches carefully at the Weighing of the Heart. She will eat the heart of the pharaoh if she hasn't followed the 42 principles of Ma-at.
It must match another puzzle page, the icon in the top right gives us a clue.
Solution ExpandThe diary clue tells us to align the entrance of the tomb with north.
The green circle disk has a North indicator on it, so we can place the pyramid on the square with the correct alignment.
Frog: Skip
Cat: the t
Scarab: rip w
Ankh: ires
SKIP THE TRIP WIRES!
In the Lost Mummy kit, you will find an alphabet written in an Ancient Egyptian-type font which needs to be placed correctly on the Rosetta Stone sheet.
To do this, cut the symbols and arrange it based on the hints found in the 4 diaries.
Solution ExpandCutting out the purple stone blocks we get this pattern.
There is 4 numbers in a block at the top right of the page, and an underline on the first one. There is another underline on the page as well. The numbers must match some letters.
Solution Expand Here are the answers in sequence:2. Twin Sister
3. Worthy
4. Pharaoh
5. Skip the Trip Wires
Make the word "STAR" by taking one letter from each answer, the number sequence is which letter to use.
This green color must match another puzzle page.
The stone pillars and pyramid bases would match theses blocks well.
The North compass face looks important.
Solution ExpandHere is a video to explain it - please note it has the old art style, but the puzzle method itself hasn't changed.
Oh no! A dark wizard has swooped in and stolen all of the dragon eggs! Quickly, solve his puzzles to break the spell and save the dragon eggs, before the poor baby dragons freeze!
Download their game, 'Dragon Eggs' FREEDani was upset. You see, it was nearly Easter, but there was no way that Anna and Szilard's little brother could go see Grandma. At least, not without accidentally spreading the plague (which is nowhere near as much fun as escaping the zombie virus!)
It was at this time that the High Wizards began their contest of champions - to see who could design the greatest escape room game.
So Anna and Szilard stepped up!
They lovingly designed 'Dragon Eggs' as a captivating scavenger hunt guaranteed to lift poor Dani's spirits.
And their clever workmanship shows! Their intuitive but challenging puzzles had our escape goblins skittering around the Citadel for weeks searching for lost dragon eggs.
So naturally, we wanted to learn more about the enigmatic masterminds behind our favorite Easter game.
In real life we both love bearded dragons. Out of the fantasy dragons probably our favourite is Hiccup's Toothless (in How to Train Your Dragon).
But we've also seen among the contest submissions that there is another game that has a dragon (or at least a hint to it), Caesar, and that was a really good game, so it goes to our favourite dragon list! (We checked out all the fan-made games that appeared on your website and most of them were really really good!)
We couldn't agree on this one 🙂 .
I (Anna) say that the Accio spell from Harry Potter would be very useful for me in daily life, as I tend to not find where I put my things.
Szilard says that if we can only choose one spell that it should be something more powerful, like a healing spell to cure all illnesses.
We first decided that as the game would be for Easter, essentially it should be an egg-hunt. But we still wanted to give it a cool theme, so we came up with a little story about stolen dragon eggs.
We were long debating the structure of the treasure hunt, the first idea was to make it sequential so that one solution will lead to the next clue and all solutions together would allow the players to deduce something in Sherlock style. But then we opted for something simpler, where there was less room for error in the design, this is how we have now independent puzzles that each give one letter towards the final solution.
We also had in mind that it should be easy enough for our little brother to succeed.
Coming up with the actual puzzle ideas was a lot of iteration, we knew we wanted it to be as varied as possible, but that's tricky to do in practice.
We wanted to include things to physically manipulate (like cut, fold, colour), but also others where it was more about noticing something or searching.
We drew the ideas on paper, then we searched online for images, and used our limited computer skills to achieve a look as close as possible to that we liked.
Then we printed out the game and solved it ourselves to find out where it didn't work (and we did find quite a few mistakes!).
We even dropped a couple of puzzles that did not seem good enough on second thought.
So we corrected and re-designed and then printed again.
It took about half a dozen rounds of testing before we both were satisfied with the result.
...and perhaps the anticipations when the game was ready and we waited for the big day to come - so if you get feedback from other people who play it, we'd really love to hear!
Other than that we enjoyed the whole process of making the game. Before the lockdown, we did not spend this much time together and now we had secret meetings coming up with the theme, drafting the story, then brainstorming puzzles. We sat together in front of the computer and it was a great bonding to do something good together. (Of course mom and dad knew, so they allowed us more computer-time ? )
We live in a relatively small flat, so we decided to hide well the twelve cards with the puzzles (e.g. in a book, under the carpet, etc), but we had a few little chocolate eggs nearby so they were not that hard to find.
Mom and dad were helping Dani, but we did not tell them the solutions in advance, sometimes they were just as puzzled as our little brother!
Also, we had one modification compared to the game we submitted for the contest: the video they got in the end was one that we recorded wishing them a happy Easter. (It's super-easy to upload a recording to vimeo and make it password protected, so anyone playing our game can make it personalized this way.)
It was a lot of work, but it was all fun. After a while we started seeing codes wherever we looked, and we spent entire days thinking about new puzzle ideas.
He didn't say much, but at his age that's normal.
It was surprising to see that some of the puzzles we intended to be hard he solved very quickly, while he struggled with others that we felt were not so hard.
We suspect that he expects us to do another treasure hunt for his birthday in July 🙂
So once this is over, we are going to book that trip and pay it with our own money!
We got the idea because of the contest, but we are already working on another game, it's so much fun!
For us what helped to get started was to look at the LPS website for tips, and it's probably a good idea to play a few of these escape games to get some inspiration.
Also, it helped that it was the two of us working on the project, there were a lot of ideas we dropped because one of us did not like it, and eventually it made the game better to work on it until both of us loved every element.

The first few days of our social isolation were refreshing but eventually, the boredom made its way to us. So what did we do? The High Wizards decided to throw a mini house party!
This article is a quick summary of how you can use the Envy escape room kit to add a little oomph to your mini get-togethers and fend off those social isolation blues.
Breaking the ice is an essential part of any get-together. It's hard to have a good time if the evening is being weighed down by awkward half-smiles and sliding glances, so melting the ice was super important!
This is where the prop-pack (included with the escape room kit) comes into play.
The props followed the 1920's theme and allowed guests to get into character by chatting while trying on glasses, moustaches and bowties. This went on for about an hour while 1920's music played in the background, slowly making us feel like we were at a party hosted by the great Jay Gatsby himself!
View the GameEventually, it was time to get to the main event: our escape room game. Like any escape room party, the first step is to split the players into teams, so we divided ourselves into three teams of five.
Setting up the game is super easy. Our night full of jazz and rebellion was kickstarted in three simple steps:
The fun-factor of these types of parties hinges on strong competition, so some healthy dramatic rivalry was definitely in order... and it started as soon as I yelled 'go'.
Two of the three groups scrambled from the living room to their own private meeting spots.
One group found a quiet corner behind a desk. From there, they proceeded to plot and scheme in hushed tones.
Another group took to the deepest, darkest hidey-hole they could possibly find. They opted to work stealthily by torchlight.
This competition made the 1920's nightlife practically buzz! The whole event was very competitive with each team finishing within five minutes of each other. Talk about close!
Unfortunately, we don't have any photos from after the game. We were all having such a good time! Everyone was in full party mode. There was some dancing, lots of chilling out, and great conversations.
This is the kind of experience that the Envy escape room kit excels at creating. Need something a little extravagant, refreshingly novel, and friendship-strengthening? Then Envy totally has you covered!
If you're experiencing loneliness and isolation, an at-home escape room game can transport you to another world. We can say that it certainly did so with us. Like us, you probably won't want to stop, either. It's pure child's play.
It doesn't have to be a 1920's murder mystery like ours. It just has to be a scene that you can easily get lost in. Our love for the 1920's happened to be something that we had in common so that was what we did.
However, it should be noted that Envy isn't quite so suitable as a singleplayer game. Like Chess, you can play it alone (and some people really do enjoy this). However, it may not live up to its truly epic potential. Escape rooms tend to have at least two characters. We all know Sherlock Holmes isn't the same without Watson, and Batman isn't the same without Robin. So find yourself a sidekick before setting out on your grand quest!
If there are at least two people in your home and you're bored, an escape room kit could just be the adventure that you need.
Well, it's the end of the world. And quite frankly, the zombie apocalypse would have been waaaay more fun to deal with!
Instead, we're stuck with hand sanitiser that costs you your firstborn child, an endless toilet paper fetch-quest, and enough voice-muffling face masks to turn the entire population into a skittish Bane impersonation.
To top it all off, now you and your family are locked inside the same house for a full 14 days... how long will it be before the battle royale begins?
With a printable escape room kit, you can avoid the family free-for-all entirely!
Don't wait until screen-zombification sets in before you start actively using your time. Take control of your quarantine!
Our printable escape room kits have a proven track record of rallying restless kids and captivating fidgeting adults, all without relying on cheap screen-time.
The printable puzzles included in each kit fully engage your mind in logical problem-solving, thrilling critical thinking, and satisfying teamwork.
The thematic challenges are super exciting (don't tell me you've never wanted to bust into a top-secret facility!) and are designed to get you 'into the flow' alongside your friends.
All in all, it makes for the perfect self-isolation game to transform quarantine into a spine-chillingly satisfying experience.
Sure it's the apocalypse, but nobody has time for frustrating computer glitches!
That's why our tech goblins are always hard at work ironing out all the web-wrinkles and squashing pesky bugs (yes, sometimes they break stuff in their eagerness, but they do mean well!).
Now it's easier than ever to jump in on the action. Grab yourself an escape room kit in just three quick and easy steps:
Simply browse our selection of escape room games and click 'buy now'. A happy little escape goblin will then deliver your game to your email inbox in a matter of moments. Done!
Follow the link in the email to download the escape room kit. Don't worry, it's all digital, so your pristine game kit will never be handled by smelly trolls or infected zombies.
Then, simply follow the included directions to print your escape room kit on your home printer. It's that easy!
You'll need a mate to watch your back when you face off against the zombie horde. However, you'll never live it down if you end up spreading the virus to your entire contact list! Escape room games are nowhere near as much fun alone, so what do you do?
If you're already self-isolating, keep your distance and don't invite anyone else to your home. Print off the game, and play it with your fellow survivors in quarantine (but watch out for signs of any of them turning…)
Our resident elf clerics recommend keeping your group small, as directed by your local public health authority. The epic escape party sweet-spot is between 4 and 10 players.
We've eliminated uncertainty and frustration during game setup with our in-depth setup guides. Simply follow the online instructions, and you'll be off on your adventure in no time!
Just brief your players, drop the papers onto the table and shout "Go!" to get the thrills started immediately. This is the easiest way to set up the game and makes for a frantically fun night of problem-solving as you scrabble over the kitchen table.
Clean up a room in your home and designate it as the 'escape room'. You might even decide to create a 'multi-stage' game by splitting the puzzles between two rooms. Unlock your inner Easter Bunny and hide the puzzle and clue sheets around the room. Your players will need to hunt down the information they need before they can solve their puzzles. (Just make sure to give them clues if they still can't find your deviously-hidden puzzles!)
See our puzzles guide for tips and tricks to hiding stuff like an escape room ninja.
Immerse your players in their quest by theming up the room with the included posters, extra props, and fun decorations. Dollar-store trinkets, toys, colored paper, and fancy dress costumes are tried-and-true ways to get the heart pumping. You can also set an appropriately epic mood using the Spotify playlists bundled with each kit.
Adding physical components will really take your game to the next level. Grab any cheap padlocks, bike locks, or kitchen cupboard locks you have laying around, and incorporate them into your escape room game.
You might use a combination lock to be solved with our number puzzles, give your players the key to a padlock as a reward, or maybe even lock their dinner in the oven! Gasp! Have fun with it!
You can check out our puzzles page for inspiration on locking things up well.
Worried about getting stuck? Don't be, we've totally got your back! Just shoot us a message via email or Facebook, and a person (or maybe an elf) will be right there to help you out.
Show Me the escape room kitsOf course, zombies happen, however, your party doesn't need to be the source of the next outbreak. Here's what you can do to protect yourself and your players from catching any nasty bugs:
Escape room games + good snacks = an unforgettably awesome time, every time!
People love to play, to laugh, and to eat (goblins love these things too). So why not combine all three as you wait out the apocalypse?
Adding snacks is always a win, however, in this case our elf clerics recommend taking a few extra precautions, such as:
Creating an escape room game is the captivating creative challenge that we all need right now.

The end of the world doesn't need zombies to be exciting (right?), you can wait out the apocalypse in heroic style with a few good friends and a printable escape room kit.
Just print the kit from your own home to crush boredom, solve puzzles, achieve goals and cruise through self-isolation like a boss!

View the GameRenowned for his wit and sharp hair. Ladies beware!
A true noble, her character is as refined as her moustache.
Loves bow-ties and writing fun articles about date nights!
Setting up the 'Envy' escape room game was ridiculously short and simple:
Done. It took me three minutes! (plus print time)
However, cutting out all those props would not have been a short and simple task for my clumsy fingers.
Fortunately, my brother had my back, and he helped me get everything cut out and ready in time.
Cpl. Swatchton's amiable demeanour easily doubled the number of laughs at the table. His quiet antics and understated humour fit in like a piece of fine decor.
While this certainly created a different atmosphere to that of a candlelit dinner, it was no less romantic. As Lady Priscilla and I locked eyes after another of my brother's sly remarks, we knew, we were happy.
Remember, your aim is to host a night that your date will remember. There is something truly special about simply having fun with a group of friends.
This escape room theme is irresistibly fun to really lean into. So be fancy!
I'll be the first to admit that, as a couple, I tend to live in my own little world where the sun only ever shines on the face of my wife.
Every now and then you need to burst that bubble, so why not do it with your brother, a tragic murder, and an unclaimed inheritance?
Plus, building strong relationships with others actually makes you a far more interesting and attractive person!
Eat snacks! Everyone is a little more comfortable when there's a hearty supply of finger-snacks and tasty drink on hand. This is a perfect recipe for more relaxed interactions and a great evening!
What's more fun than flirting? Stealth-flirting!
Having my brother around meant that we needed to tone it down... or get creative...
My wife and I made it into a game to see how badly we could flirt without being caught. Bonus points if you can distract your date from their puzzle!
My advice - while shenanigans under the table are fun… just make sure you know who you're playing footsies with!
Flirt up a storm, and make sure your date knows s/he's not forgotten.
Escape rooms are a great date-night tool to begin with, as you get to see how your date performs under this weird fun/pressure combo. But add another person to the mix, and you start to see your date's character leak out into their interactions.
My wife's fun-loving side was in full swing as she happily crushed the game. However, when the clock counted down and she hit her hardest puzzle, Lady Priscilla didn't snap with the frustration. Instead, she elegantly frowned at her paper, kept calm, and carried on!
They say that pressure exposes the cracks in people's character, but this night, the cracks in my wife looked more like veins of gold!
Make sure you leave enough time before and after the game for people to hang out. Remember, the goal is to have a good time together, not get an escape room done ASAP!
"There's only ten minutes left guys! We need to win this!"
You could feel the tension in the way we collectively frowned over the last puzzle sheet. It was do or die time, and it looked like we were going to die.
Until that is, Cpl. Swatchton flashed a full smile and attacked the answer sheet with fresh gusto.
There's few feelings quite as exhilarating as squeaking in a win so close to defeat. And we couldn't have beaten this game without my brother's help.
There is truly strength in numbers.
Always keep communicating. When you solve a puzzle, tell everyone the answer. Read your completed paragraph out loud so that your friends know how the story is progressing. Keep your allies in the loop so they can make informed decisions.
At the end of the day, the goal is to share a fun experience with your date, and adding another close friend to the mix achieves that with flying colours!
Private, romantic dates are always fun. But you'll get plenty of those. Having a blast with the people you love gives you a treasured memory to reminisce about later.
Without my brother, there would have been less laughs, a more subdued atmosphere, and a murder that would have remained unsolved.
"About time you showed up! I've got the Chief breathing down my neck to get this bloody murder sorted.
None of us had a kind word to say about Ol' Carnegie, but the Toff's been topped at his own party, and a Lord's inheritance hangs around like a bad fart.
Unfortunately, those insufferable twits from homicide managed to arrive at the scene first. To no surprise, they've hit a wall and sent back a half-solved report.
Head to the mansion, identify the culprit, and get this case closed!"
"Welcome to the Carnegie mansion, detectives.
Please, come in. And don't mind our unconscious guests. These parties usually get quite… frivolous… but tonight's festivities were somewhat more dramatic.
Don't drink the punch.
Of course, there is the dead body in the office. But between you and me, the man wasn't half as appealing as his pocketbook.
Now that's a fortune anyone would kill for…
Please do poke around and do your 'oh-so-important' business"
The illustrious Carnegie family are hosting a giant party of frivolity, laughter and a few spiked drinks. From Gatsby to Governors, everyone's invited for the riotous affair.
This is the bloody 1920's at it's worst.

Find one of the two entrances of the maze to get to the mansion in the middle. See what letters you can discover in the order you find them along the journey.
Solution ExpandAs you navigate through the maze (entering from the top entrance), take note of the letters along the path. They should spell ESTHERWOOD.
Looks like a letter has been ripped up and thrown into the wastepaper bin. Cut out the various letter pieces and align them together. The paper has a number of underlines on various individual letters, maybe if you put them in order of reading?
Solution ExpandAfter the paper is put back together, the underline on each letter is added together in order from top to bottom, left to right (reading the letter) to spell out DONATION.
This is the telephone in Carnegie's office, with a state phone listing nearby. You have dusted the telephone for fingerprints. Telephones are operated by pressing on one of the large numbers and dragging it to rotate the dial.
Fingerprints overlap each other from repeated presses on the same number.
Maybe you can link the fingerprint presses with the list of phone numbers? Elimination is the way to go, try to find numbers with no presses, 1 press and 2 presses.
Solution ExpandThe heaviest presses from the fingerprints are the numbers 9 and 2. Therefore they where both pressed twice when dialling the number.
Then we have 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 having 1 press.
No presses for 0, 1, 5 and 7.
Looking at the list of phone numbers in the directory, the only one that satisfies the above conditions is ARIZONA.
Carnegie has been murdered. There is blood everywhere, but quite a bit on the keys of the typewriter.
Maybe he left a final message on the paper? Ahh but it has been burned out. Perhaps we can use the blood on the keys to figure out what he typed in his final moments.
Solution ExpandThe letters with blood on them are r,t,y,i,a,h and c.
Rearranging these letters gives you CHARITY.
Looks like some sort of map has been left on the marble base. Looks pretty complicated, but is there some guiding list of actions to follow?
I see a "lobby entrance" and various stairs, aah and a blue dot. There is also a bunch of arrows and another blue dot. Looks like the letters join to form a word.
Solution ExpandJoining the two blue dots, we start at the Lobby Entrance, and then follow each arrow to move a space along the map.
Down -> UThat combines to UNDERDESK.
Cut out the springs on the left. Is there a space on the blue lock section that fits one of the springs? Maybe that should be the spacing for the rest of the springs as well.
Looks like the lockpicking tool is pushing one of the pins past the gold line.
Solution ExpandImagine all of the pins pushed past the gold line, and use that as the spacing to align all of the springs. There are two small springs that fit in the two small spaces, put these in first.
Rotating the springs and rearranging the order gives you BOLTSCLICK.
Cut up the five rectangle sections of the statue. Paste them together along the glue lines, and then experiment with rotating them to create a five letter word. Maybe the statue face helps the alignment?
Solution ExpandAligning the Hat, Face, Hands, Legs and Feet gives you AZTEC.
Lots of witness statements, looks pretty jumbled. Maybe I could try to put the reported times in order? The clock on the left looks useful for that. The circled letters look important, but they need reordering to find the culprit.
Solution ExpandThe circled letters are r,o,s,r,s,e,p,o and f.
The clock is broken up into hourly sections, 11:05 fits into the 11:00-12:00 range.
Putting the various witness statements in the order of time (in hourly blocks) using the clock gives you PROFESSOR.
Looks like the culprit was in the room. Reading the note, Carnegie has left his daughter a clue to which statue he took. Maybe the murderer brought back the statue to the room?
Hmm the clue list could map to each statue, but what do the circled numbers mean? The number must relate to the statue, maybe it represents a letter?
Solution ExpandEach clue maps to a statue in the scene.
(1) Forging Fire -> (V)ulcan
(2) Helmet of war -> A(U)gust
(3) Radiant Light -> He(L)ios
(1) Growth Abounds -> (C)ybele
(6) Wisdom of Mind -> Athen(A)
(4) Beauty Sleep -> Hyp(N)os
Putting the list of letters together you get VULCAN.
This must be the answer sheet. Looks like each of the 10 puzzles combine with their word answers to form another final word.
Maybe the coloured circles from each puzzle answer maps to a letter in the conclusion? Hmm there is two possible locations for each letter.
Warning! - Full Solution here ExpandESTH(E)RWOOD -> E
MORPHIN(E) -> E
(C)HARITY -> C
(A)RIZONA -> A
DONATI(O)N -> O
VU(L)CAN -> L
PROFE(S)SOR -> S
AZTE(C) -> C
UNDER(D)ESK -> D
BOLT(S)CLICK -> S
Combining each letter from the 10 puzzles, we get CASECLOSED.
The party guests are really drunk, something must have tainted the alcohol.
Looks like we have a chemical analysis of the cocktail already, maybe we need to match the contents to the list of Controlled Substances?
No labels on anything, just the chemical formulas. I wonder which cocktail was made? That might help find the foreign substance from the analysis list.
We have the right middle section of the substance - H19, but what are the other two parts?
Solution ExpandThe cocktail chemical analysis shows a number of chemical formulas. Matching these to the objects in the scene we find that the cocktail is the Southside Fizz, which gives us NO3.
The pill bottle has C17 on it, which matches a couple of the items on the controlled substances list. We don't see C18 anywhere in the scene so by elimination we get C17, H19, NO3.
This combination gives us MORPHINE.
So... whodunnit? (SPOILERS!!! ... but come on, you knew that...) Expand
Make any clever observations?
No?... no worries, we can't all be Sherlock.
Why? It's quite elementary, old sport:
Correspondance was also discovered revealing that Carnegie was involved in a dispute with the Arizona Institute regarding his son's unsavoury behaviour. The institute is requesting a sizeable donation in order to cover up for Carnegie's son's mistakes.
And so we have our man! Good job, detective!
